Three major PEUGEOT launches in Tokyo
Powered by a new 1.2L Turbo PureTech petrol powerplant—voted 'engine of the year' in its category—paired with Efficient Automatic Transmission 6 (EAT6), the latest PEUGEOT 208 symbolises the brand's ambitious new goals in the market. It provides a powertrain tailored to Japanese drivers' expectations in terms of simplicity, performance and enjoyment. Drawing on these cutting-edge engine technologies and driver assistance systems such as Park Assist and Active City Brake, PEUGEOT aims to best the performance of the first-generation 208, 7,000 of which were sold on the islands. The all-new PEUGEOT 308 GTi by PEUGEOT SPORT is making its Asian debut in Tokyo. The new model has reaped the rewards of PEUGEOT's rich pedigree in Japanese motorsport, featuring a powerful blend assembled from its athletic counterparts. Delivering 270 hp and developed by PEUGEOT SPORT teams, the new PEUGEOT 308 GTi sits in pole position as the hottest hatch in the 308 range, crowning the model's success. The unveiling of the PEUGEOT 508 GT with its 2.0L BlueHDi engine marks a milestone for PEUGEOT in Japan. It is the brand's first diesel vehicle marketed in the country in its forty-year history in the archipelago. The new BlueHDi powerplant is set to benefit from the Japanese authorities' efforts to promote clean diesel in the same manner as other environmental technologies. Boasting an impressive array of exclusive Euro6-compliant diesel cleantech including additive DPF, SCR to cut NOx emissions, and STOP&START system, the PEUGEOT 508 GT BlueHDi will receive the same tax breaks granted to plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles.
